With the physical map on hand and with no GPS we started exploring the city by foot. We had no worries of getting lost, but we made sure we can trace our way back to our hotel.
The Centraal station is about 8-10 minutes from the hotel. This station is one of the main railway hubs of the country and one of the busiest. We walked and walked and walked some more... But can't find the Centraal station and it seems so far. We're already feeling tired, hungry and cold. I put a couple of gadgets in my bag, so I had a hard time carrying it.
After a few minutes, walk saw the Starbucks. God, we can finally have our breakfast. I went inside the coffee shop, but the queue was very long, so we decided to explore a bit more. We walked across the Odbrug bridge and found some signages indicating "steakhouse". We had our first breakfast in Europe in La Gouch Steakhouse. Guess what we just ordered? We continued to explore the area and we found great views in one of the canals - Waalseilandgracht, some old houses, old buildings, modern and iconic structures. We took pictures of the Grand Hotel Amrâth with unique exterior design, Prins Hendrikkade statue, floating Chinese restaurant, apartment terraces and a lot of bicycles. I mean literally a lot. Seems like each person in Amsterdam got a bicycle of their own.
So we spent most of our time taking pictures then we decided to get coffee from Starbucks. We stayed for an hour there, just observing the by passers, enjoying the view and the coffee. It was already lunch time when we headed back to our hotel. Finally, our room is ready at the Moevenpick Hotel City Centre. (See related articles below).
