Dark Places is another movie based on Gillian Flynn novel, the same author who wrote the Gone Girl. This movie shows a distinct attempt at a mystery. It is a story about a massacre happened 25 years ago involving multiple family members.  Libby Day (Charlize Theron) was 7 year old when her family was murdered, and they blamed her brother Ben Day (Corey Stoll) responsible for the killing because of Libby’s testimony. The setting shows the period between the infamous night of the murder and the present day.

On the present day, Libby was approached by a secret society that specializes in studying complex unsolved cases. At first, she was very hesitant because it will recall her terrible experiences, and face the man who murdered her family, her brother.  Financially broke, she had no choice but to accept the offer from the society.
